Easy teriyaki Sauce

A sweet, garlicky Japanese marinade and sauce that is ready in 10 minutes.

for the sauce

  • 70 g dark brown sugar
  • 70 ml dark soy sauce
  • 20 g ginger grated
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 350 ml water

to thicken

  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp water


  • Put all of the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan.
  • Stir until the sugar has dissolved over a medium heat.
  • Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Cool, if using as a marinade, then keep in the fridge.
  • For a sauce, combine the cornflour and water together and stir through while heating until thickened.
