Homemade Naan Bread in a Frying Pan

This homemade naan bread is simple to make in a food mixer with no messy rolling out. Cooked in a hot pan, this bread is perfect for dipping in your favourite curry.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 5g instant yeast sachet
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 125 ml water warm
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 3 tablespoon yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon nigella seeds optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 250 g plain flour
  • melted butter for grilling

Instructions
 

  • Add the yeast and honey to the warm water, stir and leave to bubble for a few minutes.
  • Fit a food mixer with a dough hook and add the remaining ingredients and the yeast mix and combine until the mixture forms a dough,
  • Use floured hands to form the dough into a ball, add more flour to the bottom of the bowl and replace the dough. Cover with a clean cloth and leave in a warm place until doubled in size.
  • On a floured board divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape by hand.
  • Heat a non stick frying pan over a medium-high heat and add 2 naan bread to the pan, turning after a few minutes. Transfer to a baking tray and cook the remaining naan. 
  • To serve melt some extra butter and brush over the naan and place under a preheated grill for a few minutes.

  • When shaping the naans check the size of your pan to make sure they fir.
  • If the dough seems too wet just add a little more flour.
  • When you reheat them, add some garlic granules to the melted butter and garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
  • Homemade naan breads make great individual instant pizza bases. Just flatten the breads into circles instead. Great for kids to make their own pizza!
