French Hot Dog

Make an easy French hot dog using brioche rolls andgarlicky Toulouse sausages. Great for barbecues and brunches.

Equipment

  • sharp knife
  • bread knife
  • chopping board
  • Frying pan or skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Toulouse sausages
  • 4 brioche rolls
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Use a bread knife to slice the brioche rolls lengthways.
  • Peel the onions, cut in half and slice thinly.
  • Put the oil in the pan over a medium to low heat.
  • Add the onions and make sure that the slices are all separated.
  • Sprinkle over the salt and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook the sausages. They will take about 20 minutes under a medium grill or in a frying pan.
  • If you want to cook the sausages in the oven, place them on a tray at 180 C / 350 F / 160 FAN / Gas 4 for about 30 minutes.
  • Assemble the hot dogs.
  • Serve.
